  1. TEL project for the Centre for Education and Inclusion

The launch of the TEL project for the Centre for Education and Inclusion has begun. The initial launch to the team took place in May. In recognising the importance of Peer Mentoring as a tool to develop practice the Centre team identified a project to support the development of Peer Mentoring using methods highlighted by Sean Hughes through a Non-directed Coaching and Mentoring process.
This project will contribute to the aim of the UW Strategic Plan and will contribute to staff development (relating to the aim to be an excellent University in which to be a member of staff). Further, the enhancement of approaches to teaching and learning is intended to contribute to the student experience.
The intention is to make effective use of technology to support a more flexible approach to Peer Support Review of Teaching and Supporting Learning. IPads will be used as a tool for this process by enabling:

    • Review of recorded session eliminating the need for 1-1 observation and time constraints
    • Reviewing online material and the use of the VLE; the use of wider social networks such as ‘Pinterest’ as well as the Universities VLE Blackboard.
    • Sharing of students’ assessments and staff tools, such as online quizzes, peer assessment and presentations.

    Intended benefits of the project:
    • To develop a shared approach to developing excellent teaching pedagogy
    • To ensure the Centre continues to share good practice and showcase examples
    • To support the University’s development of PSRT
